I have many memories of growing up in Dunkirk...the most prominent: My Mom used to walk us kids downtown to go shopping and have her hair "done" at the Studio... and afterward she would take us to Kresge's for lunch. I still remember the way it smelled in there--like raw onions and deep fried food...and the old worn, uneven floors and the row of booths parallel to the lunch counter. There were balloons hanging overhead and you could pop one and a slip of paper inside would tell you how much your
sundae would cost!
