Billy Ebert's Pictures
These pictures were taken by Billy Ebert ...Doc Ebert's Father.

1184

When I began looking for old pictures of Dunkirk I kept hearing about an amazing collection of pictures that Doc Ebert had...pictures his Dad had taken over the years. I looked up Doc and stopped over at his house and introduced myself...and explained what I was attempting to do...and was given a resounding "NO"   I went back again and again...each time recieving the same answer. At the end of the summer the first year there had been several articles about me in The Observer and about the pictures I had been digging up...and a lot of Doc's Friends in the community who had seen the pictures I already had...encouraged Doc to help me.  Doc finally agreed to allow me to scan his Father's (Billy) pictures with the agreement that I would put those pictures in a place where the people who grew up in Dunkirk could see and enjoy them for years to come!

Billy Ebert took great Pictures...he was a very accomplished photographer and always managed to get the perfect shot. I hope you enjoy his pictures as much as I have!

Boorady's Clothing Store
East 3rd and Deer St.

about 1972
The sign over the store says Book Shop.  However I remember 2 stores bearing the Boorady name in the same area.  This building was the men's clothing store...however it was never open when I was a kid and the clothing in the store just sat there undisturbed for years.  The Book Shop was located a block further west up 3rd street and I remember being in that store numerous times and even met the book binder who was european and once showed me how he repaired the books.
